“I’m in Pain” was the fifth song I wrote, back in a time when life felt lighter and love felt endless. It came from the aftermath of a relationship that meant more to me than I realised while I was in it – a story of love lost, and the quiet devastation that follows when something once so certain slips away.
The song lives in that space between memory and acceptance, where everything still feels raw. It captures the ache of absence, the unanswered questions, and the moments where you replay what was, trying to understand where it all changed. There’s a kind of honesty in that pain that’s unfiltered and unguarded, the kind you only really feel when you’re young and experiencing heartbreak for the first time.
But beneath it all, there’s a subtle shift. A realisation. That no matter how heavy it feels in the moment, time has a way of softening the edges. That healing doesn’t come all at once, but slowly, almost unnoticed, until one day the weight isn’t quite as unbearable.
This song was my way of processing that journey, from loss to understanding, from heartbreak to the quiet acceptance that some things aren’t meant to last, but still shape who you become.
